According to the local publication iEcoClarin, the French group will inject $320 million between 2017 and 2019 at the El Palomar facility.
"For the past year, we have been refurbishing the El Palomar plant to make it more efficient. And now, a second stage will begin, in which the investment that we have just announced will be practically announced to the President", Carlos Gomes, the head of PSA for Latin America, said.
Gomes declined to comment on which models will be produced in El Palomar : "I would not want the competition to know right now", he commented. However, the PSA official did say that, unlike the current models built in Argentina, the new ones will be underpinned by a global platform: "The new platform that we will build at El Palomar will allow us to manufacture both conventional vehicles, and electric and hybrid cars."
