The new gearbox is available on the '2' and '3' grades and helps improve fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as the automaker states.
The 2017MY Sportage has also received a new GT-Line S trim level that's based on the GT-Line and adds a number of features such as smart park assist, a heated steering wheel, headlamp washers and bi-xenon headlights. Power comes either from a 1.6-liter T-GDi, paired to the aforementioned 7-speed auto gearbox, or from the 2.0-liter CRDi mated to a 6-speed auto.
Coming to replace the 'First Edition' is the KX-5 range-topping grade, which adds an electronic parking brake, two-tone leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charging, and others, on top of the KX-4. This variant is only available with a 2.0-liter CRDi diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The rest of the lineup benefits from new paint options as well as an upgraded multimedia system, from the '2' grade and above, which features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, 3D Mapping and SD map updates.
