The issue stems from a connecting pin in the seat belt buckle which may make the seat belt operate inadequately during a crash. As no incidents have been reported, the Swedish brand says the recall is precautionary.
Those models affected are the S60, S90, V60, XC60 and XC90 all from the 2016-2017 model years.
It is reported that all potentially affected vehicles at Volvo dealerships have been inspected and fixed if required while customers have been instructed to return their vehicles to a local dealership for an inspection. If required, the affected part will be replaced free of charge in just a couple of minutes.
