The Wall Street Journal reports that the Bolt will only be available in California and Oregon before 2017 ticks over, leaving prospective customers elsewhere in the U.S. waiting until spring next year to get their hands on the award-winning electric hatchback.
It is believed that Chevrolet has opted to first offer the Bolt in California and Oregon as these two states are among the nine that have adopted the zero-emission vehicle mandate, where a proportion of a carmaker’s sales must be accounted for by zero-emission vehicles.
Potential delays in the deliveries of the Bolt were first reported back in August as, at the time, the automaker’s dealers had yet to start accepting pre-orders.
