In fact, from all of the Italian car maker’s convertibles, only the F360/F430 duo (and the F50 supercar, with its removable hardtop) came with a see-through engine sheath in their convertible variants.
Like its predecessor, the 488 Spider keeps things restrained with a conventional hood. Sure, the component’s design is intricate, but the downside is that it hides the V8, and that’s where Capristo comes in with a transparent engine cover.
This is not Capristo’s first try at manufacturing such a piece, as the company designed a similar product for the 458 Italia (of which they’ve sold over 400 units). Made from carbon fiber and plexiglass, the cover comes in two types of fabric and two finishes. Priced at €8,990 ($9,840), it also doesn’t come cheap, but if you want to see the V8, it’s totally worth it.
