In terms of looks, it's safe to say the design of the 2017 Ford Fiesta remains similar to what we saw on the previous generation model, although this is currently valid only when viewed from the front 3/4 as we're still waiting for the official images in order to see just how different the rear end is, seen as how spy pics have already confirmed the presence of horizontal taillights.
Apparently we're looking at the five-door model in ST-Line trim, which according to Autocar & Autodato serves as a solid preview to the full ST model. It features 10-spoke alloys, sporty bumpers and side skirts, a new front grille and a pair of smaller though bulkier headlights compared to the outgoing car.
Inside, we're expecting better quality overall and more up-to-date infotainment/connectivity and active safety systems, though it might be the presence of Ford's latest SYNC3 system that could boost the Fiesta's image among its rivals in a segment that's bound to become a lot more "connected" in the next couple of years.
Now, since the model pictured here is allegedly wearing ST-Line duds, it could mean that it also boasts sports seats, sport steering wheel and alloy pedals to go with the sport suspension and aggressive wheel design, as it's the case for the current 2016 model.
Power for all-new 2017 Fiesta is expected to come from an assortment of 3 and 4-cylinder EcoBoost units in various stages of tune. Some reports also indicate we could see a new 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine for the European markets. As for the ST hot hatch version, it could be powered by an upgraded 1.0-liter EcoBoost unit, though at this point it's just a rumor - much like the one that states it would have up to 220 HP.
Ford is hoping that the new Fiesta's improved cabin quality will make its transition into a more upmarket position as smooth as possible, seen as how the automaker has already dropped the base models from the current Fiesta range in favor of the new five-door Ka+.
Expect to learn more about Ford's new-generation Fiesta within the next few hours, so stay tuned.
