Out of the box, the new 5-Series will be available in a range of variants, including the M550i xDrive. Soon after, the M Performance accessories will become available to customers, with different add-ons and upgrades available for the wide array of 5-Series versions on offer.
For example, owners of the 540i will be able to opt for the BMW M Performance Power and Sound Kit which increases power from the six-cylinder by 34 hp up to 360 hp while torque rises by 50 Nm to 500 Nm. This package can also be joined by chrome or carbon fiber tailpipe trims.
Elsewhere, 540i, 540i xDrive, 530i and 530i xDrive can be optioned with a new stainless steel sports silencer and circular or trapezoid-shaped tailpipe trims in chrome or carbon fiber.
As for the selection of diesel 5-Series’, BMW has developed the M Performance Power Kit which adds 27 hp and 30 Nm of torque to the 530d and 530d xDrive.
Across the range, 20-inch alloy wheels are also available as is a sports brake system that includes red 4-piston aluminium calipers up front and single-piston calipers at the rear. Other components on offer include the M sports package and M aerodynamics package which consists of distinctive bumpers, carbon wing mirror caps, a rear diffuser and carbon fiber rear spoiler. Parts made of polyurethane can also be specced.
Rounding out the most noticeable changes are a number of interior tweaks including a BMW M Performance steering wheel finished in alcantara as well as new shift paddles.
