The organizers behind the V8 Supercars Championship have announced the formation of the new SuperUtes series. It's set to replace the existing V8 Utes series, but instead of running car-based Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon utility vehicles, the new SuperUtes will use actual trucks.
The new series will be open to all manufacturers to enter production-based turbodiesel dual-cab trucks – vehicles like the Toyota HiLux, Isuzu D-Max, Nissan NP300 Navara, Ford Ranger and the like. That'll make it rather different from just about anything we've seen to date on either side of the globe.
The events will be held in conjunction with Supercar racers, starting at Townsville in July before heading to Ipswich, Bathurst, the Gold Coast, and Newcastle before a more expanded calendar is launched for 2018.
