Positioned right above the Passat and rivaling the likes of the Audi A6L, with which it shares the MLB 2 platform, BMW 5-Series Li, Mercedes-Benz E-Class L, and Volvo S90L, the vehicle is considered by some to be the successor of the Phaeton.
According to CarNewsChina, the Phideon comes will launch with just two engines; a 2.0-liter TSI, producing 224 horsepower and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque and a 3.0-liter TSI V6, rated at 299 HP and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. Both units are mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
Depending on the trim level, equipment includes four-zone climate control, an advanced infotainment system, Nappa leather, tray tables, and an 11-liter small fridge between the rear seats.
Volkswagen has no plans of offering the Phideon outside the Chinese market, at least for now.
