According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem comes down to pinched wiring for the driver's-side front airbag, which may prevent it from deploying properly in the event of a crash.
The issue has prompted FCA to recall all 14 MY2016 Vipers manufactured between May 24 and August 28 of this year. To fix the problem, dealers will need to replace the airbag and clockspring, which is set to commence on November 18.
This is the first time we've seen a recall for the 2016 Viper. The last time we saw the American supercar recalled was for 3,660 examples of the 2003-04 model over an airbag control module-related issue.
