Lotus is continuing its fifty-years-at-Hethel celebrations by introducing the Elise 250 Special Edition.
Numerous carbon fibre components are fitted, including the front splitter, front access panel, rear wing, tailgate and sports seats. As a result, the car weighs just 899 kg (1,982 lbs).
Like the regular Elise Cup 250, the 250 Special Edition features a supercharged 1.8 litre four-cylinder engine that delivers 243 bhp (181 kW / 246 PS) via a six-speed manual gearbox. The suspension and braking set-ups are identical, too.
Buyers of the 250 Special Edition will have a choice of four paint finishes and two two-tone colour schemes for the standard leather upholstery. However, only fifty examples are going to be built.
UK pricing starts at £47,900, an amount which represents a premium of £2,300 versus the cost of an Elise Cup 250.
