Although the i8 Futurism Edition isn't officially a BMW Art Car, the end result deserves to be.
This project was actually instigated by BMW Italia to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary. Created in collaboration with Garage Italia Customs, the outcome is a special livery inspired by the painting 'Lampada ad Arco' by Italian Futurist artist Giacomo Balla.
The original work, which hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, portrays an electric street lamp under moonlight. A stunning colour-burst motif certainly suits the modern form of the i8. Indeed, realising that Balla's avant-garde effect was conceived in 1909 might come as a surprise.
