Just 700 examples of the sold-out BMW M4 GTS are being built, so anybody who failed to secure one in the ordering rush might be peeved that it's being used as a Safety Car in the 2016 DTM.
The GTS is a logical choice for the role, though. Performance won't be an issue thanks to a 493 bhp (368 kW / 500 PS) 3.0 litre turbocharged engine (with fancy water injection), while the fitted Clubsport Package adds six-point harnesses, a roll bar and a fire extinguisher.
In fact, the conversion to DTM Safety Car only required the addition of a two-way radio, various LED warning lights and some body graphics.
