Lancia gives the Ypsilon a facelift for 2016

There's not much left of once-proud Lancia. Indeed, only two models are still listed: the Voyager MPV (which is actually a rebadged Chrysler) and the Ypsilon supermini.

The brand hasn't been abandoned entirely though, because an updated Ypsilon has just been announced. Changes include a successfully redesigned front end that gains a broader grille and a modified bumper.

Inside, the dashboard now has a more upmarket feel, the centre console boasts extra storage space and refreshed graphics spruce up the instruments. Three trim grades named Silver, Gold and Platinum are available, and each gets its own new upholstery.

Customers are going to be faced with a broad selection of engines:

1.2 litre petrol 68 bhp (50 kW / 69 PS)
0.9 litre TwinAir turbo petrol 83 bhp (62 kW / 85 PS)
1.3 litre Multijet turbo diesel 93 bhp (70 kW / 95 PS)
1.2 litre Ecochic LPG / petrol dual-fuel 68 bhp (50 kW / 69 PS)
0.9 litre Ecochic TwinAir turbo methane / petrol dual-fuel 78 bhp (58 kW / 80 PS)

The 2016 Ypsilon will be exhibited at this month's Frankfurt International Motor Show before sales begin soon afterwards. It won't be offered in the UK or Ireland, not even in Chrysler guise as some previous versions were.

Prices in Italy start from €13,200.
