Don’t be fooled by the ‘concept’ tag. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé is almost production ready and it’s set to become a direct rival for the BMW X4.
Like the existing GLE Coupé, the smaller GLC is a high-riding SUV with five-door fastback bodywork.
The new model measures 4,727 mm (15’ 6”) long, 2,000 mm (6’ 7”) wide and 1,593 mm (5’ 3”) high. Those dimensions help to create a bold and broad stance, an impression that‘s further reinforced by huge 21” wheels and a low-profile glasshouse.
For its public debut at the Auto Shanghai motor show the Concept GLC Coupé has been equipped with a 3.0 litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine. Decent performance is promised by an output of 362 bhp (270 kW / 367 PS), which is delivered to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
