Volvo is describing the XC90 Excellence as a “new flagship car”. With just four seats instead of the usual seven, it’s clearly aimed at those wealthy people who prefer to employ the services of a chauffeur.
Sitting in the rear should certainly be a very comfortable experience. The two individual leather-covered chairs recline, have built-in ventilation and incorporate a massage function.

Ahead of them are floor-mounted footrests, while the central console houses heated and cooled cup-holders, fold-out tables and a refrigerator. A couple of Orrefors crystal glasses are even provided.
To help create a suitably quiet and refined atmosphere, the specification also includes Pirelli noise-cancelling tyres, extra sound insulation and a luggage compartment dividing screen.
The XC90 Excellence is set to first appear at the upcoming Auto Shanghai motor show. Sales in selected markets will then begin later this year.
