Citroën Aircross concept heading to Shanghai

China is currently the largest single market for Citroën, accounting for a quarter of the brand's global sales. Given such a statistic, it's hardly surprising that the French firm has created something special for this month's Auto Shanghai motor show.

The hybrid-powered Aircross concept is an SUV which exhibits influences from the production C4 Cactus. However, instead of the latter's Airbump protective panels, the Aircross features 'Alloy Bumps' and 'Air Signs'.

Citroën describes the styling as being protective, welcoming and lacking aggression. The result is certainly unusual, but from some angles the massive wheel arches and bulbous front end appear to be disproportionately large.

Inside, the emphasis is on fostering a sense of uncluttered space. There are four generously-sized seats covered in white and orange two-tone upholstery. Above them a glazed roof panel contributes to the airy ambience, while the lack of B-pillars should make access easy.
