Maybe Volvo is about to create a new sub-niche with its new S60 Cross Country.
Essentially a four-door saloon version of the recently-launched V60 Cross Country crossover, it gains a 65 mm (2.5”) higher ride height, black cladding around the wheel arches and some additional underbody protection.
Two variants are going to be offered in Europe. However, the first is a rather pointless fake because it features a four-cylinder diesel engine and front-wheel drive.
The alternative does have all-wheel drive though, as well as a larger 2.5 litre five-cylinder diesel. At least this one’s all-terrain ability should live up to those looks.
Volvo will be unveiling the S60 Cross Country at this month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. UK deliveries are due to begin in July.
