Street-legal Kawasaki Ninja H2 revealed

Following last month’s debut of the track-only 300 horsepower Kawasaki Ninja H2R, the detuned road-going H2 version has been launched.

Power still comes from a fuel-injected, four-cylinder, 998 cc engine that uniquely boasts a supercharger. However, for the H2 it develops a less scary 197 bhp (147 kW / 200 PS) – incidentally the same output as a normally-aspirated Yamaha R1 – but that figure does rise to 207 bhp (154 kW / 210 PS) with the effect of ram air. Peak torque meanwhile is an impressive 133 Nm (98 lb/ft).

Like the H2R, the H2 features a trellis frame built from high tensile steel. Its suspension set-up comprises a KYB AOS-II upside-down front fork, plus a KYB fully adjustable mono-shock at the rear that works with a single-sided swingarm.

Also fitted are a speed-variable Öhlins electronic steering damper and the KIBS anti-lock braking system which is designed to minimise intrusion and mitigate rear-wheel lift.

A price for the Ninja H2 has yet to be announced, but Kawasaki has confirmed that UK-specification bikes will have an Akrapovic exhaust as standard.
