Organisers of the new TC3 International Series for touring cars have announced a schedule for 2015. Its inaugural season is going to comprise twelve two-race rounds which will take place in Europe, Asia and South America.
National and regional TC3 championships are also planned in addition to the International Series. Run using the same regulations, the idea is to create a ‘pyramid’ structure for drivers and teams to ascend.
To be eligible to compete in TC3, cars must be four- or five-door models with a maximum length of 4.20 metres (13’ 9”). All will feature production-based 2.0 litre turbocharged engines – petrol or diesel – that are expected to produce around 315 bhp (235 kW / 320 PS) with 410 Nm (302 lb/ft) of torque.
Crucially a ‘balance of performance’, using carefully controlled power-to-weight ratios, should ensure close competition. Furthermore, efforts are being made to keep costs down to encourage privateers to participate.
