Six years after the original X6 was first launched, BMW has unveiled an all-new version of its Sports Activity Coupé.
Compared to the old model the overall design and proportions have remained very similar. A couple of notable differences are the side swage lines, which mimic those already seen on the smaller X4, and a more sharply sculpted front end.
When sales begin this December, there’ll be a choice of three turbocharged engines that all come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Thanks partly to better aerodynamics and numerous weight-saving measures performance is marginally improved across the board. However the focus has really been on better efficiency and, as a result, fuel consumption is reduced by up to 22 percent.
The 308 bhp (230 kW / 313 PS) xDrive40d is due to arrive in the UK during spring 2015, while other markets will also get the 301 bhp (225 kW / 306 PS) xDrive35i at the same time.
Standard equipment for all the range includes leather upholstery, heated front seats, brushed aluminium cabin trim, Bluetooth, satellite navigation and a 10.2” widescreen dashboard monitor. The M50d additionally features 20” alloy wheels, larger front air intakes, extended side sills and a rear diffuser.
As would be expected, there are plenty of items on the options list too. Among them are adaptive LED headlights, a head-up display, four-zone climate control and a reversing camera.
