Ducati has unveiled the Monster 821, the Italian brand’s new mid-range naked bike.
As that name suggests, power is provided by a liquid-cooled Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine with a capacity of 821 cc. It develops 110 bhp (82 kW / 112 PS) and 89.3 Nm (65.9 lb/ft) of torque, although a reduced output of 47 bhp (35 kW / 48 PS) is being offered as well to satisfy European learner rider laws.
A choice of riding modes controls the standard-fit 3-level anti-lock braking, 8-level traction control and 3-level ride-by-wire throttle settings. Also part of the specification is a height-adjustable seat.
The regular Monster 821, which is available with a choice of red or white paintwork, has a UK price tag of £8,995. Alternatively, the Dark version comes in a characteristic all-over black finish and it costs £8,795. Sales are due to begin in July.
