This year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event will see the debut of BMW Motorrad’s minimalist Concept Roadster.
Built around a blue-painted tubular frame and the familiar 1,170 cc twin-cylinder boxer engine, its high rear and low-set front end combine to create a definite wedge profile.
The fuel tank, finished in a shade called Sparkling Light White, flows into a dramatic self-supporting seat unit which is made from a single piece of gloss milled aluminium. A thin Alcantara-covered saddle doesn’t promise much comfort, though.
Aluminium is also used for the air intakes, engine spoiler and valve cover plates, while several components including the fork legs have been anodised. A headlight unit that uses LED strips to provide illumination and a very distinctive upswept exhaust are among the bike’s other notable features.
For now at least there are no plans to put the Concept Roadster into production.
