2014 Yamaha MT-125 unveiled

Take a YZF-R125 sports bike, then give it an upright riding position and streetfighter styling. That’s essentially the simple recipe followed by Yamaha to create the naked MT-125.

Apart from the absence of a fairing, the new arrival is distinguished by its redesigned fuel tank and wider handlebars that give a clear visual link to the other MT models in the range. Another difference is the unique seat unit which is set slightly lower and should be more comfortable.

Mechanically, the YZF-R125 has donated much to the MT-125, including its steel Deltabox frame and 14.8 bhp (11.0 kW / 15.0 PS) 125 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. The lightweight Y-spoke wheels, floating disc and radial caliper front brake set-up, LCD instrumentation and upside-down front fork are also common to both machines.

The MT-125 will be available in a choice of Matt Grey, Anodized Red or Race Blu colour schemes when sales begin in July. UK pricing has yet to be announced, though.
