Mini has been victorious in the car category of the Dakar Rally for the past three years. However, in 2015 that winning streak could be under threat from the new Peugeot 2008 DKR.
With its massive wheels and tyres, elevated ride height, short overhangs and two-door body, the 2008 DKR looks nothing like a production 2008. The design is a case of form following function, so there’s plenty of suspension travel and the aerodynamics have received a lot of attention too.
Significantly, Peugeot has decided to make its Dakar contender two-wheel drive, primarily because such a configuration is beneficial over certain types of terrain. No other technical details have been released yet, though.
Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres have been named as the team’s drivers.
