The VisionC concept further blurs the differences between Volkswagen Group’s mainstream brands. That’s because as a large five-door coupé, the Škoda would be a slightly cheaper alternative to the Audi A5 Sportback and Volkswagen CC.
However there’s another purpose to the VisionC, which is to signal a new design direction for the marque. Škoda describes the refreshed styling as an “interplay of soft, slightly contoured, concave and convex surfaces, as well as sharp, precise lines”.
At first glance it’s a success, even if the side view is very Audi-like. Only the dramatic triangular light clusters, distinctive grille and sculpted bonnet clearly identify the VisionC as a Škoda.
While there’s no word yet on whether a production model is going to follow, the concept is due to make its debut at this month’s Geneva International Motor Show.
