After two rounds of voting by a jury of 58 automotive journalists, the winner of the 2014 European Car of the Year has been named at the Geneva International Motor Show.
The Peugeot 308 took the title after receiving 307 points. It was a convincing (if somewhat surprising) triumph, as the second-placed BMW i3 achieved 84 fewer marks.
The final scores for all seven contenders on the shortlist were:
1. Peugeot 308 (307 points)
2. BMW i3 (223)
3. Tesla Model S (216)
4. Citroën C4 Picasso (182)
5. Mazda 3 (180)
6. Škoda Octavia (172)
7. Mercedes-Benz S-Class (170)
