Fiat has created a Cross package for its Dodge Journey-based Freemont MPV, a model that’s not marketed in the UK.
The exterior gets a pseudo-SUV look courtesy of restyled bumpers, a gloss black front grille, various Platinum Chrome-coloured embellishments and a set of 19” black five-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, the specification includes black leather upholstery with mesh inserts, contrasting Liquid Graphite trim pieces and an 8.4” touch screen that’s used for the standard-fit satellite navigation system and rear reversing camera.
Although the only engine offered is a 2.0 litre MultiJet II turbodiesel unit, buyers have a choice of either 138 bhp (102 kW / 140 PS) or 167 bhp (125 kW / 170 PS) outputs. Both come with a six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. However, the more powerful option can also be equipped with an on-demand all-wheel drive set-up that’s combined with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Sales of the new Fiat Freemont Cross begin this autumn.
