Following the Lexus RC coupé’s debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in November, a high performance ‘F’ version is due to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show later this month.
With a 5.0 litre V8 engine that Lexus says produces ‘well above’ 450 bhp (335 kW / 456 PS), the RC F is going to be more powerful than the 425 bhp (317 kW / 431 PS) BMW M4. However, acceleration figures have yet to be released, so for now it’s unknown whether that extra output will result in any performance advantage.
The RC F also features numerous bodywork changes. These include a redesigned bonnet, large cooling vents in the front wings and an active rear wing that automatically deploys at 50 mph (80 km/h) and retracts below 25 mph (40 km/h). Finishing off the purposeful look are some 19” ten-spoke forged alloy wheels that’ll be available in three different styles.
As expected, the interior gets a sporty makeover too. More supportive seats are fitted, along with a thick-rim steering wheel and special high-grip pedals.
Pricing and market launch dates are still to be confirmed.
