The new DS 5LS carries neither a Citroën nameplate nor the familiar double-chevron logo. That’s because it’ll be made and sold only in China, a country where DS is a separate brand entirely.
Measuring 4.70 metres (15’ 5”) from bumper to bumper, the DS 5LS is 17 centimetres (7”) longer than the European-spec DS5. A four-door saloon, its restrained styling incorporates the latest DS front end, LED taillights and plenty of chrome trim.
On the inside the aim has been to create a luxurious environment. Wood and leather abound, the front seats have a massaging function and an air purifier is fitted. Also included as standard are a reversing camera, keyless entry and start, a Denon audio system and a blind-spot monitoring device.
Sales of the 5LS are due to begin in China next March via fifty special DS Stores. Citroën has also confirmed that a DS SUV is going to be launched there later in 2014.
