2014 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Jetta GLI’s launch in the United States. To mark the occasion, Volkswagen has created a couple of special versions fittingly called the Edition 30 and Edition 30 with Navigation.
In addition to the usual performance-orientated GLI specification, both feature a red trim strip along the bottom of their grilles, larger 18” ‘Laguna’ alloy wheels and a boot lid spoiler.
On the inside, the sports seats are upholstered in V-Tex leatherette with red accents. The Edition 30 specification also includes carbon-effect trim pieces, lots of red stitching, floor mats and unique doorsill plates.
Mechanically things are unchanged, which means power comes from a four-cylinder, turbocharged, 2.0 litre engine that produces 210 bhp (156 kW / 212 PS). Buyers can opt for either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Jetta GLI Edition 30 models go on sale early next year in the United States. Prices have yet to be confirmed.
