Honda has launched its Vezel in Japan. The new compact SUV, which attempts to mix practicality with coupé-like styling, is entering an increasingly crowded market segment.
In its home territory, buyers can order either a 2.0 litre petrol engine or a hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor, a 1.5 litre petrol unit and a dual-clutch transmission. Both choices are optionally available with an electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system.
The Vezel is due to arrive in Europe in 2015, where it’ll rival numerous models such as the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and upcoming Suzuki iV-4. Specifications for the version that’s going to be offered here have yet to be confirmed, but a diesel variant is expected.
