The launch of the Primavera resurrects a nameplate that first appeared on a Vespa scooter back in 1968.
All-new, the design of the 2014 model is unmistakeably a product of the Italian firm. Based around a traditional pressed sheet steel structure, it incorporates some neat retro touches such as the tapered tail section.
Yet the Primavera still manages to appear modern thanks to the careful bodywork surfacing, its 11” five-spoke alloy wheels and the use of LEDs for the taillight and daytime running light.
Practicality has been a major consideration too. For example, the seat is both lower and more comfortable, plus it has been combined with narrower footrests to help shorter riders feel more confident.
To complement the styling, buyers will have a choice of Vulcan Black, Marechiaro Light Blue, Blue Midnight, Crete Senesi Brown, Dragon Red or MonteBianco White paintwork.
Both two-stroke and four-stroke 50 cc versions of the Vespa Primavera will be offered, but the fuel-injected, three-valve 125 cc and 150 cc engine options would be better for those seeking extra performance and refinement.
