Vauxhall Ampera price cut

Vauxhall has decided to drop the price of its Ampera range-extender by £3,500.

Consequently the entry-level Positiv version now costs £28,750 on the road, after applying the government’s £5,000 plug-in car grant. That actually makes the Vauxhall cheaper than the practically identical Chevrolet Volt, which retails for £30,255 including the grant.

The more generously equipped Ampera Electron also benefits from the same reduction, so its price tag has fallen to £30,495.
