Chinese vehicles haven’t always performed particularly well in crash tests. However, the Qoros 3 Sedan has just dispelled that reputation by being awarded a maximum five stars by Euro NCAP.
The left-hand drive version that was assessed scored 95% for adult occupant protection, 87% for child occupant protection, 77% for pedestrian safety and 81% for safety assist features (items such as stability control and electronic brake assistance).
With the weighting of those four categories skewed towards adult protection, the overall result was a very creditable 88%.
As the assessment protocols were changed for 2013, direct comparison with cars tested in previous years isn’t possible. Nevertheless, the Qoros 3’s performance now means that all but three models tested in Euro NCAP’s ‘Small Family Car’ category since 2009 have earned five stars.
