Škoda has announced that its new third-generation Octavia is going to cost from £15,990 when sales begin this March.
From launch, three trim grades will be available, with a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines. They are due to be joined later on by a high-performance vRS model, along with an ultra-efficient diesel-powered GreenLine version that achieves 83 mpg (3.4 l/100km) while emitting just 89 g/km of carbon dioxide.

Equipment levels are impressive. Even entry-level ‘S’ variants come as standard with Bluetooth connectivity, an eight-speaker audio system with DAB radio, air conditioning, electric front windows and 16” alloy wheels.
The specification for ‘SE’ models further adds electric rear windows, a driver fatigue detection system, tyre pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors and front fog lights.
Topping the range are the ‘Elegance’ versions, which feature satellite navigation, Alcantara and leather upholstery, rain and light sensors, cruise control and 17” alloy wheels.
