MV Agusta Brutale 800

Just a few days after it revealed a trio of updated Brutale 1090 models, MV Agusta has launched the 2013 Brutale 800.

Combining a 124 bhp (93 kW / 125 PS), three-cylinder engine with a dry weight of just 167 kg (368 lbs), the new arrival is set to slot above the existing Brutale 675 in the firm’s naked bike range.

A key feature is the Motor and Vehicle Integrated Control System (MVICS), an electronics package that oversees various functions including the adjustable traction control system, ride-by-wire throttle and engine maps (of which three are pre-set, while a fourth is customisable).

The suspension consists of a pair of 43 mm diameter upside-down forks up front and a single rear swing-arm at the rear. Both are adjustable for compression, rebound and spring preload. Braking is taken care of by twin discs with Brembo four-piston radial calipers on the front wheel, while the rear is slowed by a single disc with a two-piston caliper, also from Brembo.

Although UK pricing has yet to be confirmed, in Italy the Brutale 800 will cost €9,990 (including VAT). The Electronically Assisted Shift (EAS) system - which allows gear changes without the rider having to close the throttle or use the clutch - is going to be offered as an option for an extra €400.

Completing the line-up is the €10,990 Italia version. It comes with a special white and pearl blue colour scheme and EAS as standard.
