2013 Honda NSS300 Forza

Honda has unveiled its new NSS300 Forza mid-size scooter, which will soon be going on sale in Europe. Although primarily designed for commuting, Honda reckons it could be versatile enough for leisure use and even some touring as well.

Based around a tubular steel backbone frame and a double-side aluminium rear swingarm, power comes from a 279 cc, single-cylinder engine. Connected to a V-Matic continuously variable automatic transmission and a belt drive system, the motor produces 24.0 bhp (17.9 kW / 24.3 PS) and 25.7 Nm (18.9 lb/ft) of torque.

Fuel economy is a claimed strong point and, with an average WMTC fuel consumption figure of 87.0 mpg (3.2 l/100km / 30.8 km/l), anticipated range should be around 220 miles (350 kilometres).

Fitted as standard is Honda’s Combined Braking System, which means that the rear brake lever also operates the front brake. An anti-lock system will be available as an option.

Despite the relatively compact dimensions, kerb weight is a fairly hefty 192 kg (423 lbs). However, a low seat height of 716 mm (28.1”) should give novices and shorter riders confidence in stop-start traffic.

Buyers will have a choice of Asteroid Black Metallic, Seal Silver Metallic or Pearl Himalayas White paintwork. A wide range of accessories is going to be available, including heated handlebar grips, a taller windscreen, top boxes and an anti-theft alarm.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
