Mercedes-Benz performance offshoot AMG is marking its birthday by producing the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary edition.
Just five examples are going to be built of this special version, which is based on the race car that competes in series such as the FIA GT1 World Championship, the FIA GT3 European Championship, the British GT Championship and the ADAC GT Masters.
However, it’s not aimed at motorsport teams, as AMG is targeting car collectors who want to own something that’s very exclusive.
The only differences compared to the regular GT3 seem to be cosmetic. A Designo Magno Graphite matt paint colour is used for the bodywork and the roll cage, while the wheels are finished in a similar non-matt shade. There are also some rather large ‘45 Years of Driving Performance’ logos emblazoned on the doors.
On the inside, matt carbon-fibre covers the dashboard and centre console, plus some ‘1 of 5’ badges are dotted around. And that’s about it, really.
In Germany, the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary edition is priced at €446,250 (including 19% VAT), which is around £361,100 at current exchange rates.
Included in that amount is an indoor car cover, a tour of the AMG factory as part of the vehicle handover process and, for those customers that want it, a track driving lesson.
