It is Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Week, with the "Race to the Clouds" on tap for this Sunday, and the biggest name to know is yet again Nabuhiro Tajima.
They call him "Monster" and Tajima showcased his brand new car Monday at McCloskey Motors in the Colorado Springs. The Japanese import is switching to an electric car, but that doesn't mean he'll go any slower. His prototype is said to have a multi-million dollar price tag. Tajima designed it himself.
With the new car and with the road paved all the way for the first time ever, he promised that he'll break his own record.
"I guarantee--300 percent," said Tajima. "This is a new car and also a new Hill Climb because of pavement, so it's totally different."
"Monster" set the record last year at 9:5. He says the main reason he switched to an electric car is to reduce emissions and help the environment.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is Sunday at 9 a.m at Pikes Peak.
