Fiat 500 Colour Therapy

Fiat in the 1970s: a period when the brand was usually associated with rust, dodgy build quality, unreliability, apathetic dealers and yet more rust.

Not its most glorious era, then, but nevertheless Fiat has just announced a new variant of its 500 city car that has apparently been influenced by that dark decade.

Called the Colour Therapy, it slots in between the existing Pop and Lounge trim grades in the range.

Given the name, paintwork choice is obviously a key feature, and it comprises the suitably retro Volare Blue, New Age Cream, Tech House Grey, Pasodoble Red and Countrypolitan Yellow. All come with a contrasting white finish for various components including the wheel covers, mirror caps, ‘pool ball’ gear knob and radio antenna.

Available in hatchback and convertible guises, buyers will be able to specify either the 0.9 litre TwinAir or 1.2 litre four-cylinder petrol engines.

UK prices for the Fiat 500 Colour Therapy vary from £10,760 to £14,510 on the road, which is £800 more than the entry level Pop models.
