Vauxhall has unveiled the Corsa Black Edition.
As its name implies, there’s plenty of black on the car, including the grille bar, spoilers, side skirts and rear apron. Complementing the colour scheme are dark-style headlights, dark-tinted rear and rear-side windows and 17” alloy wheels.
The theme continues into the interior, which gets sports seats, sports pedals, a leather-covered steering wheel, silver seat stitching and matt chrome air vent surrounds.
But the Black Edition isn’t just about cosmetic tweaks, as it also marks the debut of a new 1.4 litre turbo petrol engine. With 118 bhp (88 kW / 120 PS) and a peak torque figure of 175 Nm (129 lb/ft), it gets the Corsa from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 9.7 seconds. Top speed is 121 mph (195 km/h).
Thanks in part to a stop-start system, combined cycle fuel consumption is an impressive 51.4 mpg (5.5 l/100km), while CO2 emissions of 129 g/km mean a £100 annual road tax charge.
Production of the Corsa Black Edition will be restricted to 500 examples, and it’s available now. Prices have been set at £15,995 for the three-door and £16,425 for the five-door.
